The Rwandan
Genocide
The genocide
and the war of 1994 caused thousands of widows and orphans in
Rwanda to fend for themselves. They faced an extreme sense of
hopelessness as many of them lost their parents, spouses, brothers,
sisters, children, their homes and possessions.
Prior to the Genocide, Rwanda had two tribes who lived reasonably
harmoniously until the 1930s. The Tutsis were considered superior
to the Hutus because of education and employment opportunities
being more available to them in the early 20th century. This caused
resentment which became more overt when threatening messages were
broadcast over the radio. When the Hutu President was shot down
in 1994 the Hutus rose up to massacre the Tutsis.

Solace
Ministries
Solace Ministries
in Rwanda is helping the orphans, widows, families and the many
needy of Rwanda to face the challenges of the past blood shed,
and those of the future, like the AIDS epidemic. With God's help
we are partnering with the people of Rwanda through raising funds,
awareness, and seeking Gods mercy through prayer.
Solace Ministries Rwanda is a nationally recognised Non-Government
Organisation (NGO). It is a Christian organisation that seeks
to meet the physical, mental and spiritual needs of those afflicted
by the genocide of 1994.
